Simply put germs are microscopic bacteria, virus or even fungi that cause diseases. These are said to be the single most common reason for illnesses ranging right from the common influenza to the dreaded life threatening cancers too. A germ can be of various types and understanding the nature of the germ in question will play a large part in seeking out a treatment for it too. The four main germ types are bacteria, virus, fungus and protozoa. Each of these has a different nature but they all damage the healthy cells of the body.

The germs do not behave in the same fashion either. The bacteria germ is said to be a single living organism that draws nutrition from its surroundings. The viral germ on the other hand cannot survive independently and needs a host to latch on to. A fungal germ is multi celled and thrive in moisture and heat much like the protozoa germ that thrives in moisture too.

Amazingly, the one way to guard against all these, is keeping ones hands clean. Hands germs are known to enter the human system the quickest and once in, they can cause havoc. These cells take up the nutrition of the healthy cells and de-energize the body completely. Not only do they destroy the healthy cells but also produce toxins which harm the body intensely. Learning about the ritual of washing hands in the correct fashion will help rid them of these microscopic cells. Keep in mind that simply using soap is not enough; one has to scrub in the right places too.

When dealing with flu germs, keep in mind that they usually live longer than cold viruses and therefore it is important to safeguard against them. Also since these cells live longer on non porous surfaces, it is advisable that porous material like fabrics and tissue paper be used when attacked by these cells, so as to prevent their spread. There are times when one can opt for the flu vaccine too, in order to prevent at attack.

It is important to understand that rather than give in to the fear of germs, it is necessary to gain information on them so as to be able to combat them better. Infections like the swine flu or the bird flu that have caused nations to press the panic button have been controlled by medications and preventions. Indeed there are times when the hygiene level of the person plays a huge role in the germ attack.

It is possible to lower the frequency of the germ attack by following a few tips. Getting a vaccine is highly recommended. Washing your hands or using a sanitizer is a great idea too. Remember to cover your mouth when you do sneeze and avoid coming in contact with others if you are sick. However, building on your immune system is a great way to keeps these deadly germs at bay and for this one must follow a balanced diet plan and support it with adequate rest and proper exercise.

A staph infection is caused by bacteria, which is found even in healthy people. The bacteria usually exist on a person’s skin and even in the nasal passage. While under normal circumstances this bacteria does not cause any harm, there are times when it could start reproducing and result in a serious staph infection. This infection is famous for attacking those who suffer from a lowered immune system and in these situations has been known to even travel into the blood stream and attack the heart and lungs too. The urinary tract is another place where this infection is very likely to invade. Mostly it causes only minor skin infections.

Keep in mind that fairly healthy people may also fall prey to a rather serious attack of the infection and therefore it is very important to understand the symptoms of a staphylococcus attack so as to catch it early. The range of the symptoms varies tremendously. Right from a simple rash like boil breakout to vomiting, diarrhea, pneumonia, joint swelling, fever and even stomach cramps, anything can be a symptom. The trick is to check if the skin infection is being passed on to others and seek a diagnosis as soon as possible.

While these staph symptoms can be caused by several reasons, most fall prey to the infection due to contamination. These germs are quite hardy and are able to survive under extreme conditions too. Right from lifeless objects to high salt levels to even extreme heat or cold, these germs survive through it all. In fact, it will help to know that in many cases even cooking does not kill these germs and therefore the infection is passed on via cooked food too.

Staph infections can afflict almost anyone though there are those who are at a higher risk than others. Those who have undergone dialysis, intravascular catheters, insertion of feeding tubes or even urinary catheters are definitely at a heightened risk. A simply cut on the skin can even expose you to an infection. Using others razors, towels and similar personal hygiene products has been known to help in spreading the infection. This infection strikes hospital wards rather frequently due to low immune system of most of the patients admitted here.

Keep in mind that when afflicted, it is important to first seek medical assistance in identifying the infection. Mostly a sample is taken from the infected area and a culture test is conducted in order to identify the infection. If it is indeed a staph then treatment is administered accordingly. While antibiotics like penicillin are used quite often, there are a few such infections that are completely resistant to it. It is therefore very important that one does not try and take the path of self medication. These infections can be prevented too and by simply following a few personal hygiene rituals you maybe able to save yourself from an attack. However, if you do spot staph symptoms visit your doctor rather than procrastinate.

An mrsa infection is usually is known to begin as tiny red bumps on the skin area. It is caused by the Staphylococcus aureus bacteria and stands for methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus. The most important aspect of this bacterium is that it is resistant to most antibiotics that are known as broad spectrum antibiotics. Also one must remember that if left untreated this infection can be fatal too. Those who suffer from low immune systems are most likely to get afflicted from this bacterium. While the skin infection is a common symptom of this germ, serious pneumonia is also said to be caused by mrsa infection. However, rather than panic, one must learn to identify the various symptoms of this bacteria attack and learn about the possible treatments for it.

Red bumpy small pimples like spots are one of the most common mrsa symptoms. While initially these spots are painless, they rapidly fill up with pus and become extremely painful. More often than not, these spots look like spider licks and are often ignored. However, if left untreated one may eventually need to surgically drain these pimples of the pus that they contain. This infection can travel within the body too and damage the bones, lungs and even the heart. In this scenario, the patient can loose his/her life too. Indeed it is very important to catch the symptoms of these infections early so as to begin treatment as early as possible.

Once you have understood what is mrsa and learnt to indentify its symptoms, the next step to learn about what causes this infection in the first place. Interestingly, it has been observed that over use of broad spectrum antibiotics makes one highly susceptible to these infections. So, it is advisable to make sure that you take the most appropriate antibiotic when suffering from a bacterial infection and try and maintain a high immunity level too.

It is very important to remember that one must seek out mrsa treatment as soon as the first signs of mrsa symptoms appear. What may seem like a small insect bite can be a serious life threatening infection and therefore it is very important to seek out professional advice immediately. If you find that a small skin pimple or cut is filling up with pus, then do not try and dry it up with broad spectrum antibiotics, since that will only aggravate the problem further. In case fever persists then it is definitely indicative of a serious infection and one must not ignore or procrastinate under these circumstances at all. In most cases, a culture test will be done that shall show results within 48 hours. Depending on this test antibiotics like vancomycin will be prescribed in order to treat the infection.

Streptococcus is a bacterium that grows in a chain like design and is known to reproduce on a single axis. It is this bacterium that is known to cause the infamous strep throat infection along with others like meningitis, pneumonia and even certain flesh eating infections. Streptococcus bacteria are further divided into several groups based on their hemolytic nature. The alpha group is known to reduce the hemoglobin levels in the blood cells, while the beta group causes the blood cells to rupture. The common strep throat infection is mostly caused by the Beta group A (GAS) bacteria and one must keep in mind that if not treated appropriately, this infection can grow into scarlet fever like severe problems too.

Indeed being aware of the various strep symptoms will go a long way in seeking appropriate treatment for it too. The infection usually begins as a sore throat and soon the person experiences difficulty in swallowing too. Inflamed tonsils, headaches, fever, hives, loss of appetite and even ear aches are a few symptoms of the illness. There are a few people who find it extremely difficult to talk during this time. The extent of the liver infection is determined by a proper diagnosis and appropriate treatment can be sought after that.

Strep infection is usually spread via close contact with another infected person. Interestingly while the bacteria seem to die off in the dry air particles, they thrive for even up to fifteen days in places that provide moisture. These bacteria also have an incubation period and it can sometimes take up to eight days before the infection takes on a full blown form. The trick to controlling the infection is seeking out the right treatment.

When dealing with contagious strep, it is important to learn about how the infection can be contained; avoiding close contact with others, covering your mouth while coughing, washing your hands frequently and using tissue paper instead of cloth hankies, are a few tips to keep in mind. Also since these infections usally strike those with low immune systems, do try and keep your health quotient high by follwing a balanced life.

Mostly treatment in these cases will involve antibiotics to be administered in order to treat the infection. In mild cases certain over the counter drugs also work in controlling the symptoms of these infections. The dosage of the medication will depend on the extent of the infection. It is very important that the entire course of the antibiotic be completed even if the symptoms of the illness die down before. Keep in mind that abandoning the course mid way of the strep treatment will strengthen the bacteria and allow it to attack once again with much greater force.

A bacterial infection is fairly common and most of us have suffered from one at a given time or another. Unlike a viral infection, a bacterial one is caused by a living organism. Our body contains several bacteria, while most are good; a few are bad for us too. Due to several reasons, the bad bacteria may begin to multiply, while the good bacteria that is supposed to control this growth may not be able to fight it. This situation results in what is known as a bacterial infection. There are several types of bacteria, though the harmful ones only make up for 1% of the total bacteria. The common bacteria types are staph, strep, E coli and H. Pylori.

Since not all bacterial infections are the same, their cures also differ mostly. The use of antibiotics is fairly common when treating bacteria; however it is best to seek a diagnosis before taking the medication since different antibiotics work on different bacteria. The most common medications used for fighting of these organisms are penicillin, tetracycline, amino glycosides, Macrolides, etc. Some antibiotics have a large range and therefore are used to fight several types of bacteria; others may target specific infections and will usually require a culture test before being prescribed.

A bacteria infection, if mild, will in all probability not require any medication. The good bacteria in the body will fight off the infection on its own. However, a person’s recovery will largely depend on the level of ones immune system. Keep in mind that medication also requires that the patient’s immune system is strong, since mostly these antibiotics simply prevent the bacteria from multiplying and allow time to the immune system to control their growth.

When dealing with bacteria infections, remember that unlike a virus they are not always contagious. So while gingivitis is not transferable, streptococcus that thrives in the respiratory system is considered contagious. Certain infections like the one that causes leprosy, were considered contagious, but today science has proved otherwise. So, in other words, the nature of the infection will determine if it is contagious or not.

Never make the mistake of treating such an infection with antibiotics that have been prescribed for other problems. Taking the wrong antibiotic could make the infection stronger and immune to other milder medications too. In this case severe antibiotics are prescribed, which do take away from the body in more ways than one. Gingivitis, vaginal infections, leprosy, throat infections, pneumonia, ear infections, diarrhea, etc mostly find their root cause in bacteria over growth. The only way to prevent these infections is to build a strong immune system. A balanced life that includes adequate rest, nutrition and exercise is a great way to lead a healthy life and avoid the need for a bacterial infection treatment.
